New associates join Dominican sisters in Peru

Twelve Peruvian women and men made their commitment as Springfield Dominican associates during a hybrid ceremony that spanned the distance between Lima and Springfield on Sunday, June 2.

Seven of them are shown here, with the associate director for Peru, Sister Betty Vila Alania, second from right. For the first time, North American sisters and associates were able to witness the celebration at Casa Maria, the Lima center house for the community in Peru.

After the ceremony sisters at the motherhouse approached the camera to extend their greetings to the sisters and associates in Peru, including Sister Charmaine Kribs, who served in Peru in the 1970s and 80s. She was accompanied by Sister Dorothy Marie Solak, left, and Sister Maira Barry.
