Black History Month: Dominican Sisters Honor Illinois Residents

Some of the trailblazing men and women of Illinois history are either African American or prominent in the African American story. The Dominican Sisters of Springfield kicked off Black History Month by placing posters throughout Sacred Heart Convent that pay tribute to generations of African Americans.

Special thanks to Sister Clare, Molly, and Anne, who are all members of SDART, the Springfield Dominican Antiracism Team. They worked on the project recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans in both U.S. and Illinois history.
