Sister Catherine Stewart, OP

Spiritual direction is assisting people in holding the space to look inward and connect their daily experiences to a God, who is very fond of them.  We meet in a relaxed prayerful setting ( in person, or through zoom) to engage in deep listening while exploring how God is calling one to a deeper relationship with self, others and God.  Each directee is similar to sunflower who follows the movements of God in his/her daily life.  As a director, I help the directee become more deeply aware of those movements and his/her response.

I am a naturally curious person, who is filled with deep wonder and awe of the many gifts with which God fills my life.  I’ve always had a deep thirst for knowledge.  I have an Ed.S degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and an Ed.D from the University of Sarasota in Sarasota, FL.  My training in spiritual direction was done through Centerquest, an ecumenical hybrid program based in CA.

Over the years, my ministry focus was elementary teaching, elementary administration and teaching education courses at the college level.  As I continue in my educational ministry, I find that God also is calling me to embrace the ministry of Spiritual Direction.

I enjoy reading mysteries, hiking in state parks and nature preserves and writing.  My most recent book is “Facing Cancer with Mary.”
