Springfield Dominican Sister M. Teresine Zarones, OP, died May 13, 2022, at Sacred Heart Convent, in the 63rd year of her religious profession. She was born in 1935 in Hartley, Iowa, to John C. and Mary (Nee Gasperi) Zarones. She was baptized Nancy Carol and made her profession of vows in 1958 at Sacred Heart Convent.

Sister Teresine will be remembered by those who knew her as a kind and attentive nurse, as someone with a heart for those who suffered. After her profession she taught primary grades in Duluth, Minn., and Chicago, and worked at the Religious Education Center in Carlinville before becoming an LPN. She nursed for a year at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, Miss., then returned to Springfield where she provided 28 years of compassionate care to the sisters at Sacred Heart Convent and visited the sick. Her health necessitated retirement from these activities in 2001.

Sister M. Teresine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Zarones, and her sisters, who were Springfield Dominicans: Sister Barbara Jean and Sister Marian Zarones. She is survived by her niece Sandra (Stuart) Brannon, Panama City, Fla., great nephew Blake Brannon, many cousins, and her Dominican Sisters.
