Springfield Dominican Sister M. Henrianne Schmidt died November 21, 2023, at Sacred Heart Convent. She was born in 1929, in Jerseyville, Ill., to Henry F. and Anna C. (Nee Meyer) Schmidt who gave her the name Anna Marie. She was baptized at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Jerseyville, Ill., and in 1949 made her profession of vows at Sacred Heart Convent.
With the exception of the five years she taught in Duluth, Minn., Sister Henrianne’s entire ministry was spent in Illinois, where she taught middle school and junior high—sometimes serving as a parochial school principal—in Chicago, Farmersville, Jerseyville, East St. Louis, Springfield, East Moline, Hardin, and Aurora. In Aurora she served at St. Peter School on two different occasions for a total of 15 years. In 2012 when she returned to Sacred Heart Convent Sister Henrianne kept active, serving as sub prioress, working in the convent library, and visiting the sick in the hospitals. She enjoyed community life, visits with her family, and trips to Jerseyville.
Sister Henrianne was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Fred, Joe, Charles, Robert, and Father Henry Schmidt. She is survived by her brother John, and her loving nieces’ nephews, and cousins and her Dominican Sisters.

Rest in Peace at your Forever Home 💕💕💕
Sister Henrianne has a very special place in my heart and my life. We shared a birthday month. She also willingly and happily 37 years ago offered her love, kindness, and catholic knowledge as my sponsor. Will always remember that special night with her and family at Little Flower Parish. Love and peace Sister!
I know this is very late, but I wanted to leave my well wishes as I just found her obituary. Even 23 years later, I think of Sister Henrianne so very often as I was one of her students at Saint Peter‘s in Aurora for first and second grade from 2000-2002. I specifically remember her taking me aside often to consult with me in the library as I was a bit of a troublemaker, but I will always remember that everything she did was with patience and kindness. Just like when she rescued me from a stuck bathroom stall. I still have the card, right beside me in fact, that she wrote for me when I was incredibly sick in the hospital for several months while in 2nd grade. I am so sorry to see you go without ever reaching back out to you to say hello, but know I never forgot you, not for a second. I hope you’re resting easy in God‘s arms, sister.
How thoughtful Callie. Thanks for sharing your story.
