Sister Catherine Anne Yager’s second language is Spanish, having spent 22 of her 60 years of religious profession in Peru. There she taught first grade at San Francisco School, San Borja (1970-1984) and then provided support for families at the mission centers in Llanopampa (1985-1992) and La Oroya (1987-1992).
Before her Peruvian ministry Sister Catherine Anne taught primary grades at St. John Bosco School, Chicago (1959-1968); and St. Malachy School, Rantoul, Ill. (1968-1970).
Upon her return from Peru she became pastoral associate at St. Gertrude Parish, Chicago (1993-1994), engaged in pastoral ministry for the Spanish-speaking families in Rochelle, Ill. (1994-1997), and at St. Paul Parish, Chicago Heights, Ill. (1998-1999) before taking on the role of student educational support at Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights (1999-2017).
She is presently providing community support services at Sacred Heart Convent, Springfield, Ill. She remembers with fondness the experiences she’s enjoyed in her 60 years of religious profession. “In my many years as a Dominican Sister it has been my blessing to live with sisters having an incredible variety of personalities and talents,” she said. “The education I’ve received has opened me to worlds I never knew existed. The myriad conferences and speakers I have heard fed my spirit abundantly. It is humbling to receive so much from such a happy life. It fills me with gratitude. I can only keep thanking God for the free gift of my Dominican vocation.” Felicidades y bendiciones, hermana Catherine Anne!
Just want to wish you a Happy 60th Anniversary and let you know I’m thinking of you. Miss your smiling face at St. Agnes in Chicago Hrights.

Sister Mary Virgine taught all the McGuire children at St. John Bosco, Chicago. You were one of the kindest sisters I ever knew. Congratulations on your special anniversary.
