Dominican Sisters Synod Listening Sessions

“The Church is convoked in synod.”

With these words Pope Francis invited the world into synodality. The Dominican Sisters of Springfield’s preaching mission extends to the three high schools we sponsor, to our Springfield Dominican Associates, and to members of SDART, our antiracism team, and our coworkers.

Between Mid-March and the end of May, these groups will gather for listening sessions, the outcomes of which will contribute to the report that is forwarded directly to Vatican office that oversees religious congregations, called the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

Thank You!

To all the Springfield Dominican Associates who participated in the listening sessions in March and April, we say thank you.

We also express a deep appreciation for the governing boards of Marian Catholic High SchoolRosary High School, and Sacred Heart-Griffin High School who contributed to the listening sessions in March and April.

A special thanks to the young people at the high schools and their campus ministers, too. Through a national Dominican initiative, students named as High School Preachers for their schools learn and practice the charism of the Order of Preachers. Twenty of those students from our high schools contributed their insights for the synod.

Watch this video summary of their experience.

What's next?

After our final scheduled listening sessions with the Springfield Dominican Antiracism Team (SDART) in May, the Synod Committee will prayerfully produce a summary report to submit to the Vatican Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in June.

To everyone who participated in or prayed for the success of our listening session we are truly grateful. Your engagement is definitely one of the blessings of this synodal journey.

Pray the Synod Prayer

Please print and pray with us the global synod prayer, that the Holy Spirit will be present for our gatherings.
