Happy Thanksgiving from Your Dominican Sisters

“And now, bless the the God of all,
who has done wondrous things on earth;
Who fosters people’s growth from their mother’s womb,
and fashions them according to God’s will!
May God grant you joy of heart and may peace abide among you;
May God’s goodness toward us endure”

Sirach 50:22-24

Dear Friend,

This is one of many possible scriptures in the lectionary for our celebration of Thanksgiving Day. I couldn’t do any better than to wish for and yours “joy of heart” and abiding peace on this national day of Thanksgiving.

As we make this prayer for those we know and love, please join me in prayer: May that same joyful heart and abiding peace find a home in all persons, beings, and creations, fashioned

in love according to the will of God.

May this day be a day for bringing to fulfillment a true thanks-giving for the enduring goodness of God to, for, and within all creation.

May it bring about a communion of heart and mind for all people of our nation.

On behalf of all the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, I wish you a happy, healthy, peaceful, and joyous Thanksgiving Day.
