Sister Rosalima Blough, OP

Sister Rosalima BloughSpringfield Dominican Sister M. Rosalima Blough died January 15, 2017, at Sacred Heart Convent. She was born in Peoria, Ill., in 1917, and named Alice Virginia by her parents, Earl Blaine and Anna Catherine Ely Blough. She made her profession of vows in 1937 at Sacred Heart Convent.

Sister M. Rosalima ministered as an elementary and high school teacher for 56 years, primarily in central Illinois and at Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights, Ill. where she taught math and science, 1961-1982. From 1993-2003 she worked in medical records at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital, Rogers, Ark. From 2003 until retirement in 2014 she was assistant librarian at Sacred Heart Convent.

Sister M. Rosalima was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother Josephine, her brothers James, Robert, Milton, William, and Phillip Blough, and by her sisters Marion Blough and Marjorie Lange. She is survived by her brother Thomas (Barbara), Springfield; many nieces and nephews.

Prayer Service: 4:00 p.m. with visitation until 6:15 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, Aquinas Center, Sacred Heart Convent, 1237 W. Monroe St. Funeral Mass: 6:30 p.m. convent chapel. Morning prayer and final commendation: 10:30 a.m., convent chapel, Wednesday, January 18. Father Peter Witchousky, OP; celebrant. Burial follows, Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund, 1237 W. Monroe St., Springfield, IL. 62704.
