Solidarity. No matter where in world she is!
Sister Ann Elizabeth Little was raised in the Tennessee foothills, ministered at the heights of the Peruvian Andes, and is now firmly planted in the prairie landscape of central Illinois. At St. Malachy Parish in Rantoul, Ill., she accompanies a small but growing Latino community in their search for a better life. With her interpreting assistance Spanish-speaking families are able to share their gifts with the broader parish community.
At the parish masses, with her encouragement and assistance, the English and Spanish-language choirs have come together, providing music for bi-lingual parish celebrations and giving witness to the unity of the faith community.
She also teaches weekly English classes for native Spanish-speakers and is part of the music ministry team for the Spanish-language Cursillo retreats. It is a project that gives her great joy. “I love to see people’s lives transformed through the retreat,” she said.
After 34 years of religious life Sister Ann Elizabeth says her vocation as a Dominican Sister continues to be “a wonderful adventure for me.”
During National Catholic Sisters Week we celebrate our Sister, Ann Elizabeth. Her compassionate care and solidarity with the people of St. Malachy Parish creates an atmosphere of joy and inclusiveness.
