Meet the Springfield Dominican Sisters!
Make new connections!
Catholic Sisters are here for you! We are hosting and attending events in Springfield and central Illinois to close the distance between the public and the Sisters. Why?
- Religious life has been slept on for a minute and since the election of Pope Leo the Catholic church is being rediscovered by people the world over.
- There is a real need, a meaningful commitment within the community of the Dominican Sisters, and we would like to invite you to explore that.
- That call takes many forms. It could very well be that you or someone you know might simply need that window of opportunity to open in order to find that calling you didn't know would resonate with you so much.
- The goal here is to meet with the Sisters and other young women in a safe, sincere, and active number of spaces to demystify and network with each other.
- Through these encounters, we hope you will find the inspiration to step into religious life, as there is and always will be a great need for it.
Oh Sisters just wanna have faith!
Let's clear the air a bit. You may have some preconceived expectations of Catholic sisters, nuns, the Church, and more. This is a chance to get it straight! First of all, there is no one size fits all here. Sisters come from different backgrounds, cultures, experiences, generations and perspectives. What they all share is community, faith, love of Christ, the vowed life, and a desire to help make meaningful change for a better world for all. Habits? Optional.
Religious life is not boring, and neither should be the journey exploring it!
True, there is a fair amount of routine and duty in a sister's life. And there is so much more. Today's Catholic Sisters are faithful to the Gospel. They share a strong drive for collaborating int he communities where they live and engagement with public policy. We are admittedly on the older side and this limits many of the sisters from being able to engage with the public who still very much need them.
That's why we need you to discover your mission. Could it be as a Catholic Sister that God is callling you to apply your own perspective, talents, and energy?
You can meet the sisters at the Old Capitol Farmers Market each month, and find us in some of your favorite downtown Springfield haunts this summer and fall.
