Everyone enjoys a holiday treat but when the treat is tied to an organization that gives back to the community, it makes it even sweeter.
Finley’s Tap House, 3236 Gineger Creek Drive in Springfield, is treating the Dominican Sisters by offering a portion of the sale of their holiday dessert menu for the sisters' ministries.
Jessica Hebert, Finley’s, general manager, said the restaurant has consistently helped organizations that help others.
“I approached the owner with the idea, and he agreed that it was a great way to show support. We’ve helped Sparc (Springfield Area Resources Center), Illinois Children and Family Services and others who are giving back to the community,” said Hebert.
Herbert said she knew of the good works the sisters have done in the past since her mother, Barb Tanner, works for the Dominicans.
Sister Kathleen Anne Tait, Director of Development for the Dominican Sisters says the promotion will help in the care for the ageing sisters.
“We deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness of Finley’s Tap promotion. These donations assist with the care of our elder sisters who have given their lives to others. They also support our efforts to bring peace and mutual understanding among those we serve,” wrote Sister Kathleen in an email.
Sister Kathleen added she hopes many people will be able to participate in the program during the holiday season.
"What a great time of the year to celebrate the birth of Christ and help our sisters. All of the desserts sound delightful and I hope many will consider visiting Finley's to support their generous donation and our sisters," she continued.
The desserts featured include cheesecake, cannoli and creme brulee and more.
“Our dessert staff create a seasonal menu and there are five options on the menu,” said Hebert.
The promotion will run from November 29th through the end of December.
