Sister Judi Hilbing: Giving in the service of the Gospel

Over the course of a lifetime every Dominican Sister engages in many ministries, all for the sake of the preaching mission. Such is the case for Sister Judith Hilbing, who over her lifetime has been a teacher, administrator, missionary, and a member of elected leadership.

Sister Judi’s role now is to translate into Spanish the resources being used for the formation of new sisters in Peru—and to be a comforting presence to the sisters who live in Regina Coeli. When the sisters are sleeping, Judi will simply sit with them and pray for them. She especially enjoys her time with Sister Janet Guretz, with whom she shared years of ministry in Peru during the difficult days of terror rained down on the country by Sendero Luminoso. When Sister Janet is alert, the two enjoy sitting together by the fireplace and sharing memories of their time in Lima.

That’s what they were doing when we caught up with them for this video.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the lives of two of our sisters who have given so much in the service of the Gospel, serving God’s people in urban and rural setting in Peru and the United States.

A gift from you today will help us sustain our care of one another and provide the material resources we need to assure safe, dignified care—For sisters like Sister Janet now, and for Sister Judi in the future.

Thank you for your kindness.
