Sister Josetta Brown, OP

Caring for children has been at the heart of Sister Josetta’s vocation. If she was not teaching primary grade students she was supporting families by caring for their children in day care settings in Bourbonnais, Ill., or Rogers, Ark. After 18 years serving her sisters at Sacred Heart Convent, where she was a driver oversaw the distribution of medicines and medical supplies, she has returned to the ministry of childcare at a learning center in Belleville, Ill.

Sister Josetta taught primary grades at St. Mary School, East Moline, Ill., (1962-1965); St Margaret Mary School, Algonquin, Ill., (1965-1967); St. Vincent De Paul, Peoria (1967-1969); and St. St. Edward School, Chicago (1969-1971). After a year at the Religious Education Center in Beardstown, Ill., she provided childcare at Alfred Fortin Villa, Bourbonnais, Ill. (1972-1986) and then taught at Sacred Heart School, Granite City, Ill. (1986-1987) before moving on to the childcare center at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital in Rogers, Ark., (1987-2008). She gave eight years of invaluable support and assistance as a driver and supply manager at Sacred Heart Convent (2009-2017) before moving on once again to her present child care ministry in Belleville, Ill.

Sister Josetta’s parents and siblings are deceased though her nieces, nephews and friends celebrate her joy.
