Our Dominican Family in Myanmar needs your prayer and action today.
Since the military coup there on February 1 the country has been in chaos, with a brutal crackdown on dissent and attempts to silence the country's media.
On Nov. 11 the United Nations Security Council issued a rare, unanimous call for an immediate end to fighting in Myanmar and for the military to exercise “utmost restraint.”
Our Dominican brothers and sisters in Myanmar request our attention and action from the Dominican Family worldwide. Here’s what you can do:
- Watch this 3-minute video message from the Dominican Family: Note that in some instances the sisters’ and brothers’ faces are obscured to protect their identity.
- Read this statement by religious congregations at the UN on behalf of the Dominicans. [Please NOTE: Dominicans did not sign the statement in the UN presentation to protect Dominicans who are serving in Myanmar.]
- Pray: The Way of the Cross: The Cry of Myanmar and invite others to do so, too.
- For a deeper understanding, you can view this lengthy UN Human Rights Commission Session on Myanmar: 17th Meeting, 48th Regular Session Human Rights Council | UN Web TV
Thank you for using your voice to protect the people of Myanmar and our Dominican Family there.
