Introducing Rosary High School’s First President

Dr. Tom Choice becomes Rosary High School's first president on August 1, 2016.

Dr. Thomas Choice, former board chair, takes the helm at Rosary August 1.

Following a comprehensive study and months of deliberation by a special committee, the board of directors recommended to the member board—the leadership team of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield—the adoption of a president/principal administrative model at Rosary High School. This was unanimously approved by the member board. The adoption of this model allows for a division of responsibilities in which the president focuses on advancement of the mission through strategic planning, fundraising, public relations and marketing, and financial sustainability. Upon recommendation of Rosary’s board of directors, the member board has appointed Dr. Tom Choice as Rosary’s first president. Rosary Principal Sister Ann Brummel, OP, will continue in her role with an emphasis on curriculum, supervision of faculty, and day-to-day operations within the school.

Dr. Choice received a bachelor’s degree in English and speech from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in communication studies, and a doctorate in higher education administration from Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Choice brings 35 years of experience from his varied educational leadership positions. Dr. Choice began his career as an English teacher at Marmion Academy in the early 1980s and progressed over the years, most recently serving as president of Kishwaukee College from 2007 until his retirement in December of 2015. He has expertise in strategic planning, fundraising, and forging strong and enduring relationships with other educational partners, local businesses, and community agencies.
Dr. Choice is the parent of two daughters who graduated from Rosary, is married to an alumna, and has a son who graduated from Marmion Academy. He is the former chair of Rosary’s board of directors.

Join us to celebrate Dr. Choice’s appointment and welcome him to our team at a special Veritas Mass, Brunch, and President’s Reception at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Rosary. Please RSVP to Sandra Galindo at sgalindo@rosaryhs.com.

I worked with Dr. Choice for many years at Kishwaukee College. Rosary High could not have picked a better person to serve as their first President. Dr. Choice is an outstanding individual. Well Done.
