Video: Sister Patricia Burke

Sister Patricia Burke has filled many roles since she came to Sacred Heart Convent in 2020. This former high school science teacher now spends her days looking after the needs of her elder sisters. She drives sisters to doctor’s appointments, attends to the inventory in the common supply room and makes sure the sisters have what they need, and her favorite thing: transporting sisters who use wheelchairs to the chapel for prayers and Mass.

“I love doing it because I think it one of the most important things I do every day—bringing our sisters to Eucharist for the life of the world.”

In this video Sister Patricia and some of the other wheelchair transport sisters share their thoughts about what this ministry means to them and to the sisters who benefit from their kindness.

When you make a gift to the Dominican Sisters during this sacred season, you support Sister Patricia and all the sisters she serves so lovingly at Sacred Heart Convent. Thank you!

Like your family surely does, our sisters care for one another.

This Christmas, a gift from you will:

  • Help provide vital training in dementia care for sister-ministers and our nursing co-workers;
  • Replace ill-suited wheel chairs with ones appropriately-sized for the needs of each sister; and
  • Enable us to update outdated equipment we can no longer count on government healthcare programs to cover.
