Sister Elizabeth Wrenn ministered in educational settings for about 25 years, and spent some time integrating the Sacred Heart Convent library into the Illinois Heartland Library System. When she moved back to the motherhouse last summer it was to take on a new role as pastoral coordinator for the sisters who live in our skilled care facility.
She understands that our purpose as Dominicans is to bring good news to people in whatever way we can. These days, she is doing that for our sisters. “Everybody wants to have somebody listen to them,” she said. “Our sisters, no matter what stage of life they are in also need that.”
Sister Elizabeth also recognizes the need of the sisters for the kind of spiritual enrichment they’ve sought their entire lives. Her call now is to help them find that through one-on-one conversation and group activities that keep the sisters grounded in prayer and community relationships.
When you make a gift to the Dominican Sisters of Springfield this Christmas, your generosity helps Sister Elizabeth carry out her ministry of pastoral care for our elders, who for so long provided that same sense of connection and belonging through their own long lives of preaching the good news.
