28 Dominican contemplative nuns from 8 monasteries in the U.S. and Canada (Corpus Christi, Bronx, NY; Mary of the Queen, Elmira, NY; Queen of Peace, Squamish, Canada; Blessed Sacrament, Farmington Hills, MI; Corpus Christi, Menlo Park, CA; Infant Jesus, Lufkin, TX; Our Lady of the Rosary, Summit, NJ; and Caterina Benincasa, Newcastle, DE) gathered at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield, Illinois for a retreat from July 1-9, 2013.  The retreat theme was “If you make my word your home, you will indeed be my disciples…” (Jn 8:31) and included preaching at Morning Prayer, Eucharist and Evening Prayer each day, led by Brian Pierce, OP (St. Martin de Porres), Donald Goergen, OP (St. Albert the Great), Ann Willits, OP (Sinsinawa) and Breda Carroll, OP (St. Catherine of Siena, Ireland).  The nuns retreat included time for some community-building: they joined the Springfield Dominican sisters for a festive celebration of the 4th of July.
