Sister Kathleen Cour, OP
I honor spiritual direction as the work of God’s Spirit. We meet in a relaxed, prayerful environment for conversation and companioning. My goal as a spiritual guide is to help persons I accompany to explore their own human experience as the meeting place with God.
I grew up in Springfield, Ill., then studied at DePaul University in Chicago where I completed a degree in music education, and at Notre Dame University in South Bend, where I earned a master's in theology/liturgical studies. Certification in Spiritual Direction is from Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis.
My life in ministry has included elementary teaching, music education, adult lay ministry formation, and parish and diocesan liturgy in the Rockford and Springfield dioceses. I count among some of my most rewarding experiences my service on the advisory board for the Notre Dame Center for Pastoral Liturgy, the founding board of directors for the Liturgical Arts Festival of Springfield, and a term as a six-state area representative for Retreats International, St. Louis Region. I also treasure my years of spiritual direction and retreat ministry as a team member at Jubilee Farm, and a decade of service as a member of my congregation’s leadership team.
I enjoy following my favorite sports teams, photographing the beauty of creation, and being a proud aunt witnessing the growth of the next generations of my family.
