Rosary High School Names New Principal

The Rosary High School Board of Directors and the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois, are pleased to announce the selection of Sister Ann Brummel, O.P., as the new principal of Rosary High School beginning July 1, 2013.

Sr. Ann has served as principal of St. Peter Catholic School in Aurora since 2002, and previously was an administrator at St. Mary School in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and St. Bernadette School in Evergreen Park. She also taught at schools in the Springfield and Peoria dioceses.

Sr. Ann was honored with the National Distinguished Principal Award from the National Catholic Education Association in Washington, D.C. in 1992.

A member of Rosary’s premiere graduating class in 1966, Sr. Ann earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, and her Master’s in Administration and Supervision from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Selected from a field of 19 applicants, Sr. Ann becomes the eighth Springfield Dominican sister to lead Rosary High School. Sr. Ann will succeed Sr. Patricia Burke, O.P., who has been Rosary’s principal since 2004.

“After an extensive search and evaluation process, we are extremely pleased to be able to hire someone of Sr. Ann’s caliber,” said John Reale, chairman of the search committee.  “She brings a great deal of experience in Catholic education, and is a visionary who will bring Rosary High School to new heights.

“She is the right leader at the right time who will help us to build on the strong foundation at Rosary while making our school stronger and a popular destination for young-women who want to be well prepared for college and life beyond,” Reale said.

Rosary High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school for young women sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois. Founded in 1962, the Aurora school is celebrating 50 years of Dominican education this school year.
