First Bird Banding Event at Jubilee Farm

The public is welcome to the first-ever bird banding event at Jubilee Farm, 6760 Old Jacksonville Rd, New Berlin, IL 62670.

Join us 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, to watch Tony Rothering, a licensed bird bander with the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders (LLABB), capture and band birds at the farm.

During this family-friendly event you’ll learn about the scientific process of banding and how the data is used to study topics such as bird population dynamics and the impact of habitat change on the diversity and density of bird species.

“It is an exciting thing to host at Jubilee Farm,” said Sister Sharon Zayac, OP, the Jubilee Farm director. “We hope the Springfield birding community and many others will join us. We are pleased to share the gift of our land with everyone who comes.”

Please note: The banding site is a five minute walk from the parking lot over uneven terrain. Severe weather will cancel the event. There are activities for children, so bring them along. For questions call 217-787-6927.
