Sister Anita Cleary, OP
Sister Anita Cleary, OP is celebrating 25 years as a Dominican Sister of Springfield, Illinois. She entered the Springfield Dominican community on September 6, 1986 and made her first profession of vows on August 9, 1989. Sister holds a master’s degree in Earth literacy from St. Mary-of-the-Woods; IN , a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Fayetteville, AR, and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Aquinas Institute, St. Louis, MO. She also earned a registered nurse degree from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Joliet, IL.
Sister began her ministry in nursing at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, first as a surgical staff nurse and later in post-partum nursery staff and in hospice.
Sister Anita presently ministers as a spiritual director and program coordinator at Jubilee Farm, a Center for Ecology and Spirituality in New Berlin, Illinois. She also teaches Spanish at St. Agnes Grade School in Springfield. Sister Anita says that in addition to her current ministry at Jubilee Farm, her pastoral ministry in San Juan de Bautista de Jarpa, Peru, SA from 2003-2005 greatly influenced her life as a religious.
She will celebrate her Jubilee with the Springfield Dominican Community at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield In June 2014.
